Tape dispensers

Ok, I know I'm behind the times...I decided a while ago to get an ATG gun, but just had a problem with the initial investment. Well, after going through a lot of the snail adhesives this month, and then Office Depot no longer carrying the one I've loved for the last few years, it's time for me to dive in.

I came on-line since I couldn't find it at any of the local stores around here, and I honestly didn't know about any alternatives to the brand name, or how they would work.

After reading all the pages on a couple of threads on SCS (Split Coast Stampers), I placed my order for the ATG50 from thetapedepot on eBay. I'm excited that I was able to get an atg gun and 12 rolls of refills for $48.05 with shipping! I debated about getting the starter kit with only 6 rolls of refills, but that would have been $39.95, and since I was prepared to spend at least $45 on an ATG714 plus more money for refills, I got the deluxe starter kit.

Every year the scouts host a dinner for the veterans and have a flag retirement ceremony to honor the men who gave their lives or are fighting now for our freedoms. Alex always honors Uncle Carson who died in WWII.

I did this for Pink's challenge which was to use a ribbon, stamp, buttons, and pp. I actually got the buttons from Miss Polly at church. She has punch bowls full of buttons, and my idea was to get a button for each branch of the military. That didn't quite happen, but I did get 4 military looking buttons. Some are quite old. The patch is the one the boys got for attending. I used a Fiskars hand punch that pokes two vertical holes in the pp to thread the ribbon through. It's a technique I saw in the Feb 2010 Creating Keepsakes magazine (pg 17). It didn't turn out as I would have liked because I didn't own the "Leave it to Weaver" punch by Fiskars...but I bought it yesterday so I can do this technique again. The little scout in the corner I stamped and embossed it. Nothing like teaching someone how to do a technique to get you in the mood to do it, eh? I cut the backs off the buttons and then used a hot glue gun to attach them and the patch. I also inked the edges of the lo, pp with the poem, and the scalloped area. I created the scalloped area by punching a 1 3/4" circle, folding it in half and then turning the pp over and drawing a straight line using a ruler, then placing the circle on the line moving it along and then I cut it out with my fingertip knife. The star in the middle was made using a Bazill In Stitchz template and DMC Light Effects thread.

Today's plans were all canceled so Mishal and I set up a table in the living room and watched chick flicks all day, "The Notebook", "You've got Mail", "27 Dresses", "Dirty Dancing", "Legally Blond" I almost finished all of the cards for this year's birthday card swap (using the little inks my secret sister sent me). I only have to glue the buttons on and will be done, and then I just have to address all the envelopes.

It started snowing this afternoon during lunch. It was a shock to a lot of people. I would have left a lot earlier than I did, but I had an ET call from 2-3. The IM tried to get me off the phone as quickly as possible, but I didn't get to leave until 2:45. By the time I got home, there were 2 1/2 inches on the ground. We took advantage of the snow and went outside and made a snowman. Then we took pictures of him with different hats and gave him different names. I also took pictures of the kids making snow angels. Mishal went inside while Alex and I had a snowball fight.

When I asked my boss about it today, he told me today that I need to limit my over time to 15 hours/week so I don't get burned out. spoil sport!

Oh, and I got a call from someone I talked to LAST YEAR wanting me to go to Volkswagen for an interview!

Not such a good day today...my cell phone account was temporarily suspended due to lack of payment, I had to go by the check advance place and tell them that I would not be able to pick up the check until Thursday, and then I got home to an insufficient funds notification from the bank. I've got 4 of those this week...It all started last Monday with the 2 flat tires...the regular tire on the way to jury duty, and then the spare went flat while I was serving jury duty. Then Friday when I left jury duty, I had another flat tire. The Lord is breaking me down.

I was too lazy to go to church this morning. Not quite sure what's wrong with me. But I did do a load of clothes and take a shower and cooked lunch before church was out, and I addressed envelopes and stuffed them with the Christmas cards which I made with Alex and Mishal Friday.

I had planned on being at work at 1:30, but realized my phone was not in my pocket book or my coat pocket or anywhere to be found. I walked around the house with Mishal's phone calling mine trying to hear it ring to no avail. I even went out to the car looking for it. I finally found it on the ground near the mailbox, I guess I dropped it after getting the mail when coming home from work on the 5th. I'm so lucky it did not get run over or rained on.

I completed my year-end evaluation at work. My boss is going to think I have a big head I gave myself such high marks. It took me an hour to complete the evaluations, but I did it after the system went down at the scheduled time, so I got to work 6 hours today. Am looking forward to the time when I work at home.
